SOUTH TEXAS MEDICAL CENTER -
BUILDS BUSINESS COMMUNITY RELATIONSHIPS & PHYSICIANS ADMITTING PRACTICE
MARKET OVERVIEW
The CEO of a mid-sized, acute care hospital located in the southeast region of Texas contracted with Aegis as a primary means to build relationships with area employers. He also looked to influence managed care contracting decisions, enhance Workers’ Compensation revenue, and promote the practices of admitting physicians within a commercially insured consumer population. In the execution of this strategy, Aegis’ Employer Relations Specialist (ERS) was asked to work with representatives of the hospital’s Family Practice to develop and implement an employer strategy that would promote the practices of related primary care physicians.
EXECUTION
With the input of several practice physicians, Aegis’ ERS arranged on-site seminars featuring the physician led topical discussion of “The Early Warning Signs of Heart Disease, Cancer and Diabetes.” In addition, the affiliated physicians provided influenza vaccinations and were available for general health discussions. Three employers, were selected for participation including the Omni Hotel (350 FTEs), Shell Oil (1,200 FTEs) and Halliburton (1,800 FTEs).
RESULTS
Within 60 days completion of the on-site activities, the Practice Administrator had recorded 351 new patients and $25,801 in net revenue directly from the effort. In addition, this south Texas medical center and hospital is now the primary provider of occupational health services for the Omni Hotel and the exclusive provider of executive physicals for Shell Oil. The net? Confirmation that savvy collaboration benefits the community, local businesses and the partnering hospital.
